A fort hill in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra, Harishchandragad is one of the most challenging monsoon treks in Maharashtra. We would not recommend hiking up via the Nalichi vast or Taramati Ghal during monsoon. But going to the top via the Khireshwar route or Pachnai is possible and equally enjoyable as well. The major focus of this hill fort remains the Konkan Kada (Konkan cliff), an almost 1,800 feet high concave fall. It is a vertical projection providing a panoramic view of the surrounding hills. But exercise extreme caution as it can get extremely windy. Harishchandragad fort is quite ancient, with its origin dating back to the sixth century. There are caves situated all over the fort, believed to be carved out in the eleventh century. Harishchandragad fort is situated at 160 km from Pune and 218 km from Mumbai
Trekking in the monsoon is an experience like no other. One of our favorite monsoon treks is Harishchandragad. Located in the Western Ghats, this trek offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys. The rains make the trails slipperier, the leeches more active and the weather more unpredictable. But there’s something magical about trekking in the rain, especially in Maharashtra. The state is home to some of the most beautiful treks in India, many of which come alive during the monsoon.
The best time to trek is between June and September when the rains are at their heaviest. The trail to Harishchandragad is fairly straightforward and can be completed in a day. A monsoon trek is a great way to enjoy the beautiful trekking paths during the monsoon. If you’re looking for a challenging monsoon trek, Harishchandragad monsoon trek is definitely worth checking out!
