Meghalaya is also known as the abode of the clouds because it is the most accessible North East India’s Seven Sister States. Think pixie jungles, living root bridges, commanding landscapes with roaring high waterfalls, mountain drives under dramatic clouds, spotless villages, mysterious natural rocks, crystal clear rivers, bright blue natural pools, and the friendliest people you will meet in this place. A journey to Meghalaya can be economical and convenient for your vacation schedule. Most of the beautiful locations are less than 2 hours away by car. There is something for everyone, from adventure sports like cliff jumping, caving, trekking, and rappelling to simply relaxing in a village home or luxurious resort listening to the sounds of nature.
If you want a quick vacation, then you will need at least one week and up to twenty days to experience Meghalaya’s travel trailer. A one-week vacation will take you to some of the state’s most prominent tourist attractions, and if you extend your stay, you can easily add additional hikes and visit hidden waterfalls and villages.
Elephant Falls, Shillong
The most easily accessible of all the Meghalaya waterfalls, you can get here without breaking a sweat, and there are railed paths to get you near the waterfalls as safely as possible. These walks lead you to a place where you can feel the water spray, and also, it is a fantastic experience full of beauty and excitement. There are several other attractions in and around Shillong, the state capital, and this waterfall. The city has several stylish cafes with excellent food and ambiance and numerous market places with excellent shopping opportunities. You may easily spend 1-2 days here to enjoy your trip.
Lyngksiar Falls, Sohra
Another feature in Sohra is the multi tier falls, which are named for a fragrant flower found in the area. These are also the most famous spots for photographers to take great photos. To get to this place, you have to drive through the open countryside, where you will be able to take in the panoramic views and natural pools. To see this fall’s beauty at its best, you can travel during the months of September to November, after the monsoons have passed.
Dawki River and Mawlynnong village visit
In this place, you can enjoy a diet rich meal for breakfast, and also, you can fulfill your hunger pangs and prepare for the day’s activities at this location. On the same day, you can visit the Dawki River and the Mawlynnong village. Mawlynnong is known for being the cleanest village in the area. As a result, you may travel to see many waste disposal and sustainable development alternatives used by the people. The village is both admirable and fascinating in equal measure. Enjoy your time roaming through the village and snapping those long-awaited photos for your social media platforms. You will be driven to the Dawki River later. The Dawki River flows through the Jaintia Hills and is a wonderful sight. Once you approach your destination and observe the gorgeous Dawki River flowing calmly in all its beauty, learn the art of adoration and sightseeing. The landscape’s amazing view will surely mesmerize. You will be driven back to the campsite after some sightseeing and getting glimpses of scenic enjoyment.
